As part of the event "Macedonia in honor of St. Cyril", the Macedonian state and church delegation visited Italy and the Holy See, where it met with the Holy Father Pope Francis. The Director of CRRCG, Mr. Darijan Sotirovski, was also part of the delegation.
The Macedonian state-church delegation led by President Stevo Pendarovski, who is paying a visit to the Italian Republic and the Holy See, on the occasion of the event "Macedonia in honor of St. Cyril ", today had an audience with the Head of the Roman Catholic Church, His Holiness Pope Francis.
The Director of the Commission for Relations with Religious Communities and Groups (CRRCG), Mr. Darijan Sotirovski, also attended the meeting as part of the delegation.
The meeting highlighted the excellent bilateral relations, which are based on deep historical ties, shared spiritual and cultural values and traditions.
President Pendarovski reaffirmed the interest in deepening relations with the Holy See, in all areas of common interest and stressed the importance of the Catholic community in Northern Macedonia and its contribution to our society.
President Pendarovski also pointed out the importance of promotion of inter-religious dialogue and respect for religious freedoms in our country.
After the audience with His Holiness Pope Francis, President Pendarovski met with the Secretary of State of the Holy See, Cardinal Pietro Parolin.
