The Director of the Commission for Relations with Religious Communities and Groups (CRRCG), Mr. Darijan Sotirovski, on December 29, 2020, was a guest on Slobodna TV, where he gave a statement on the show Morning Briefing. In a conversation with the journalist Ordanoski, several current topics were discussed.
HERE ARE A FEW POINTS FROM TODAY'S HOSTING:
All prohibitions in religion are not higher than human life - vaccination is necessary andshould be accepted as a cure by all.
Religious communities know best how much they are contacted and how much believers need to contact them. All the research we do is that the country is characterized by a population that is religiously determined in a high percentage compared to other countries in the region. Hence, I assume that the citizens who are religiously determined and approach to religion in a certain religiously justified way, may find comfort in those spiritual consultations, in order to overcome the crisis easier, said in the morning briefing the director of the Commission for Relations with Religious Communities and Groups (CRRCG), Darijan Sotirovski.
This crisis has many aspects, it is health, economic, but it certainly has repercussions on the psyche of people and it affects the physical health and therefore it is very important for a person to come out of this crisis in a psycho-physical well-being after this. I think that as the end of the crisis is approaching, these issues will be relevant for a further approach, says Sotirovski.
The crisis has been going on for a long time. In the beginning, we may have been able to justify in some way the unpreparedness of various social factors. This was a big problem that we had not encountered until then. But now, having all the experience, even this state of slight decline of the sick, the dead, the hospitalized, we need to understand the crisis with an increased dose of seriousness. We should not lose patience and be committed to respecting the measures, because in the anticipation of immunization it is very important for the country to have a stable epidemiological situation. Hence, I think that both religious and New Year holidays should be a personal responsibility, to be celebrated in the family circle and not to lead to a situation where people gatheringsresult in new clusters and have a problem when vaccination begins. Do we talk to religious communities – yes we do, constantly within the recommendations of the Government.
I am satisfied with the constructive attitude of the leaders and the religious communities as a whole. On the eve of Christmas and Epiphany as two mass carrier gatherings of citizens, we have decisions of the Synod not to hold Christmas Eve processions and not to hold Epiphany gatherings, which is a good starting point for controlling these mass gatherings, but I think we should go one step further and appeal to personal awareness, adds Sotirovski.
